Privacy Policy

Wake cub (the “App”, “we”) is an alarm app with optional social features that let friends see each other’s wake-up status, send each other wake-up nudges, and attach a short text, voice or photo message to those nudges. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.
What stays on your device
- Your alarms and settings — stored only on your device.
- The camera during a wake-up task — the wake-up tasks (brushing, squats, punches, jogging, a place-photo match) use your camera on the device only to verify you completed the task. That video is not uploaded and is not seen by us or anyone else. A reference photo you set for the photo task is stored on your device.
This applies to the wake-up tasks. A photo or voice message you choose to send a friend is different — you are deliberately sending it to someone, so it is uploaded. See “Messages you send to friends” below.
What we collect (only if you sign in for social features)
Social features are optional. If you do not sign in, we collect none of the following.
- Account — when you sign in with Apple, we receive an Apple-provided user identifier, your email (which may be an Apple private-relay address), and, on first sign-in, your name. Used to create and secure your account.
- Profile — a display name and a friend code you can share.
- Friends — the connections you make (who you added, who added you).
- Wake status — timestamps for your alarm (when it is set to ring, when its reminder window ends, and when you completed the task). We use these so your friends can see whether you are asleep, oversleeping, or awake, and so the app can allow a nudge only while you are oversleeping.
- Push token — a notification token so friends’ nudges can reach your device.
- Nudge log — a record of nudges sent and received, used to prevent spam (rate limiting).
- Messages you send to friends — when you nudge a friend you may attach a short text note, a voice recording, or a photo taken at that moment. These are stored with the nudge so we can deliver them. The recipient can only open a message after they have got up and completed their wake-up task; until then it is withheld. Voice recordings and photos are deleted automatically after 7 days; you can also block a friend, which removes their messages from your inbox. Messages are readable only by the friend you sent them to.
- Anonymous usage events — a few basic events (app opened, alarm saved, task completed, paywall shown) recorded against a random identifier generated on your device. This is not linked to your account and is used only to understand where people get stuck in the app. It is never used for advertising or shared with advertisers.
Your display name, friend code, and wake status are visible only to friends you have mutually accepted. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
Approximate location (for weather)
To show local weather after you wake up, the app derives an approximate location from your IP address using freeipapi.com, and fetches weather from MET Norway (api.met.no). We do not store this location. If these requests fail, the weather card is simply hidden.
Service providers
- Supabase — stores your account and social data.
- Expo — delivers push notifications (nudges).
- Apple — Sign in with Apple.
- RevenueCat — confirms your subscription status.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your social data while your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Friends screen → Delete account). Deletion is permanent and removes your profile, friends, wake status, push tokens, nudge history, and the messages you have sent or received (including any voice recordings and photos attached to them).
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and protected by per-user access rules so that only you and your accepted friends can read your data.
Children
Wake cub is rated 12+ and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data. The friend messaging features let people send each other text, voice and photos, which is why the app is not intended for younger children.
Changes
We may update this policy; changes will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date.

- Supabase——
- Apple——Apple
